Clinical patterns of pigmentary mosaicism - our experience

چکیده
Pigmentary mosaicisms are nevoid diseases characterized by the presence on the skin of hyperor hypopigmented macules with particular clinical patterns. Occasionally they show association with extracutaneous defects that may alter the normal development of the affected person. We present a compilation of all the cases of pigmentary mosaicism evaluated at our Department in the past decade (Dermatol. Argent., 2011, 17(5): 375-381). Pigmentary mosaicism: a review of original literature and recommendations for future handling
BACKGROUND Pigmentary mosaicism is a term that describes varied patterns of pigmentation in the skin caused by genetic heterogeneity of the skin cells. In a substantial number of cases, pigmentary mosaicism is observed alongside extracutaneous abnormalities typically involving the central nervous system and the musculoskeletal system. We have compiled information on previous cases of pigmentary...
متن کاملTotal Hemi-overgrowth in Pigmentary Mosaicism of the (Hypomelanosis of) Ito Type
Pigmentary mosaicism of the (hypomelanosis of) Ito type is an umbrella term, which includes phenotypes characterized by mosaic hypopigmentation in the form of streaks, whorls, patchy, or more bizarre skin configurations (running along the lines of Blaschko): these cutaneous patterns can manifest as an isolated skin disorder (pigmentary mosaicism of the Ito type) or as a complex malformation syn...
متن کاملTetraploid–diploid mosaicism in a patient with pigmentary anomalies of hair and skin: a new dermatologic feature
Tetraploid-diploid mosaicism in humans is exceedingly rare. We present an 11-year-old boy with tetraploid-diploid mosaicism and coexistent hair hypopigmentation with skin hypo- and hyperpigmentation. This case expands the current literature as we are not aware of previous documentation of this unique combination of pigmentary anomalies.

tological findings are different from our results. We had no evidence for other inflammatory skin diseases following Blaschko’s lines such as linear discoid lupus erythematosus or lichen striatus. Linear pigmentary disorders such as pigmentary mosaicism (naevoid hypermelanosis) or the pigmentary stage of incontinentia pigmenti were also excluded. The aetio-pathogeny of LAM remains unknown, but ...
متن کاملCeliac disease, phylloid hypomelanosis and autoimmune thyroiditis: a case report.
Pigmentary mosaicism is a term used to encompass all of these different types of pigmentary patterns. Among these mosaic patterns, there have been only a few reports of the phylloid presentation in the literature. On the other hand, autoimmune disorders can be associated with neurocutaneous markers and syndromes. A fifteen-year-old girl was presented for chronic diarrhea and abdominal pain. Her...
